CAPS personnel worked with teachers and administrators at Kant’s A. M. Mursabaeva Elementary and Middle schools, #4, to provide updated English textbooks and new desks and chairs for two of the classrooms. The materials that were replaced were almost 30 years old, from the early 1990s.
School Desks and Flooring for School in Kant
CAPS personnel were able to fully supply 2 classrooms for a school in Kant with all new desks and chairs for the students, a desk and chair and shelves for the teachers, and a chalkboard for the room. Additionally, they also replaced the linoleum in the science lab.
Falls Prevention & Dietary Education for Seniors
From October 2020 to April 2021, CAPS medical personnel conducted a “falls prevention and dietary education for seniors” program near Bishkek. Each week the group members received groceries, and every other week a physician spoke with the group about strengthening of the body and proper nutrition.
2020 Sewing Classes & Equipment for Mothers of Disabled Children
This is a pilot project with the goal to help enable mothers with handicapped children to be able to work from home by teaching them how to sew using various machines and then providing machines to them after they successfully complete the sewing course. Participants were selected from those identified in Kant as being in need of most assistance. There is a local factory that has indicated they would be interested in purchasing piece-work from women so they can work from home and stay with their children, who are in need of continual care. The group reported:
Today, the first group of mothers with handicapped children finished their sewing course! The four participants received a certificate of completion from sewing studio “Anna” and will receive sewing machines so that they can work from home while still caring for their families. One of the participants said, “It’s long been my dream to sew. Now, thanks to you, my dreams have come true and I can help provide for my children.” We’re thankful for the opportunity to help others achieve their dreams and thankful for our partnership with “Happy Children” on this project.
2019 Community Health Seminars in Jalalabad
In late autumn 2019 CAPS held a community health seminar in Jalalabad.
2019 Artificial Insemination & Veterinarian Technician Courses
In 2019 CAPS held several courses to help train veterinary technicians in large-animal services, including artificial insemination of cattle. Three students completed all of the courses and have begun providing much-needed services to local farmers in Chui and Issyk Kul oblasts.

As a followup from previous years of teaching genetic development courses, artificial insemination and embryo transplant technics, our US partner returned and conducted additional veterinary training in May and June of 2019.
2017-2020 Health & Wellness Project
The health and wellness project that CAPS has sponsored seeks to provide equipment for schools and communities all over Kyrgyzstan that encourages children to be active outdoors. Additionally, our project staff have led teacher training using WHO approved health and wellness materials. To date we have completed 20 complexes with additional complexes planned for under-served areas.

2019 Community Development Training Seminar
In early May, 2019, CAPS hosted a seminar on community development for around thirty local practitioners. Pictured below are the project manager in charge of putting the training together and the two trainers from the US who led the training.
2018 Community Sewing Training Center
In 2018 CAPS partnered with a community development organization in Kant to create a center to train women in the skills of sewing and machine embroidery. The course lasts approximately 4 months and is intended to train those with no sewing knowledge whatsoever. In March of 2019 the first three students of that course graduated with new skills that should help them as they seek to work.
The director has also recently started an advanced course for those who wish to continue to improve their abilities.
